Monday is our school wide Favorite Character Day! I can’t wait to see all of the kids in their outfits! We will be doing Halloween themed activities throughout the day, walking over to the care home to show them our costumes, hanging out with our care buddies and ending our day with a treat! It should be a fun day:)
Today the kids were wondering how many cube-a-links we had in our bucket as we have been building numbers to 100 with them over the last few days. Here is a look at our finished product! 1078 to be exact:)
Enjoy your weekend:)
Just a heads up that I will not be in tomorrow. Mrs. Berge will be in for me. Please remind your kiddo to make her feel welcome and to show her the same wonderful respect that they always show me. I hope you all had a relaxing weekend and I will be back on Tuesday:)
Two reminders for tomorrow…
- Family Reading Event will be from 12-12:35 tomorrow. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings…all welcome. I will keep kids who’s family was not able to attend with me in a small group to read:) Our communities will be on display for you to see and the kids are so excited to show them off! Unfortunately we cannot keep them up forever and it will be time to pack them up tomorrow. Please bring or send a large bag that your child can use to take their community home. They were heartbroken when I suggested recycling them..lol!
- We will be heading to the book fair to shop tomorrow, so send money if you wish:)

Thank you kiddos for making Mrs. Berge feel so welcome today:)
I just wanted to give you all a heads up that I will be away for appointments tomorrow. I will be back at the school for interviews starting at 3:30. The kids are already aware of this and are excited to welcome Mrs. Berge as our guest for the day. Please call the school with any last minute messages.
I hope everyone safely arrived wherever they needed to be today, or are enjoying a cozy day at home:)
Here is what we have been up to…
We have all of our daily routines down pat and are enjoying our room and each other.
Respect and Friendships are a constant topic of discussion and we practice these skills daily in our classroom and out on the playground.
We have been enjoying our community walk every Tuesday morning and have written about a part of our community and why it is in important. We are also exploring and learning about different types of communities and will begin building our communities on October 17th.
We have been busy discussing what motion is and how it works by moving our bodies during gym time in different ways. We also read a very cool book yesterday about a community in Denmark that uses wind turbines to create energy for their island. The kids were very intrigued about the process and are excited to do some research about how it all works.
Our reader’s and writer’s workshops are in full swing as well as our weekly word study. The kids have been digging deep into their books by making tracks of their thinking on sticky notes. Ask them what emoji they used today and how it helped them to understand the story:) We are really growing as writer’s by using our skills to write personal narratives and will begin story writing next week. They are showing what they are learning during our word study by reflecting those rules in their daily writing and reading.
We are just finishing up our pattern unit and math and will begin numbers to 100 next week. Please practice counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s at home:)
That’s all for now! Enjoy your long weekend and drive safe:)
