SENIOR BADMINTON 2017
Update: April 24
Senior badminton playoffs start this Wednesday, April 26 at 2pm. We play at Warman High School (against Warman, Rosthern Junior College, and Vonda).
All students need to be at Warman High School NO LATER THAN 1:20pm. Students are not required to attend any afternoon classes on Wednesday. Please ensure that all students have rides arranged to and from the games.
As well, just a reminder that we expect all students to dress in school colors, that doubles teams should wear matching uniforms (which can include school pinnies or jerseys), and that students must bring a racket and goggles.
The top 2 teams in each category after play on Wednesday will advance to the finals in Clavet on Saturday, where games start at 10am.
April 3 Parent Note:
Welcome parents and athletes to the 2017 badminton season!
Our season is already underway! Practices this year are scheduled for Wednesday afternoons from 3:30-4:30pm. However, due to conflicts with other commitments and scheduled games, we may practice at lunch or after school on Mondays/Thursdays as necessary. All students should try to attend all practices; if you know in advance that you must be absent, please come and let me know.
Game times will vary depending on day and travel time. I appreciate parent support and assistance in helping athletes get to and from games. This season, students will be permitted to drive ONLY THEMSELVES to games, provided they have parent permission and a valid driver’s license. Students are not permitted to drive anyone else to games.
We currently have games scheduled on the following days:
- Wednesday, March 15 (at home vs Langham)
- Tuesday, March 28 (in Martensville)
- Wednesday, April 5 (in Langham)
- (waiting to hear back from Asquith, Maymont, Perdue, Dalmeny)
In addition, playoffs are scheduled for:
- Wednesday, April 26 (round 1) (**I received word that this might change to April 27)
- Saturday, April 29 (round 2)
Practices and games will be added/changed as needed throughout the season. In addition, we may not be able to take all athletes to all games depending on the availability of players on other teams.
The badminton fees for this year are $10 per student. Please have these paid to the office by Friday, March 10. In addition, I strongly recommend that students have their own badminton goggles for all practices and games.
I am looking forward to spending time with players and parents throughout the season. Let’s go Bruins!
