Senior Badminton 2018   arrow

Update:  April 20, 2018

Senior badminton playoffs start next week, with the first round on Wednesday, April 25th at the Martensville Athletic Pavilion. Games start at 2pm, but I would like all athletes to be there no later than 1:30pm. The top 2 teams in each category advance to the second round of playoffs, which is on Saturday, April 28th in Warman. As a reminder, the same driving rules apply that were used for the rest of the season.

The following teams have been entered into playoffs:

Boys Singles – Spencer

Boys Doubles – Kaleb/Calum

Girls Doubles – Natalie/Rachel (Savannah as an alternate) and Danika/Max

Mixed Doubles – Clayton/Kirsten and Colton/Brooke

If you are playing doubles, you must wear matching attire. In addition, all doubles players must wear goggles.

I NEED TO make any changes/adjustments by noon on Monday, so everyone needs to let me know ASAP if any of these entries are incorrect.

In addition, our game on Monday against Maymont has been canceled. The gym will be open from 3-4pm after school for anyone who would like to practice.

The top two qualifiers advance to play on Saturday.

Welcome parents and athletes to the 2018 badminton season!

It is time to get our season underway! Practices this year are scheduled for Wednesday afternoons from 3:15-4:30pm. However, due to conflicts with other commitments and scheduled games, we may practice at lunch or after school on Mondays/Thursdays as necessary. All students should try to attend all practices; if you know in advance that you must be absent, please come and let me know.

We currently have games scheduled on the following days:

  • Wednesday, March 14 (at home vs Asquith & Perdue)
  • Tuesday, March 20 (in Langham)
  • Monday, March 26 (in Martensville)
  • Wednesday, April 11 (at home vs Langham)
  • Thursday, April 12 (at home vs Maymont)
  • Monday, April 23 (in Maymont)
  • Wednesday, April 18 (in Asquith)

In addition, playoffs are scheduled for:

  • Wednesday, April 25 (round 1)
  • Saturday, April 28 (round 2) – At Warman High School

Practices and games will be added/changed as needed throughout the season. In addition, we may not be able to take all athletes to all games depending on the availability of players on other teams.

The badminton fees for this year are $10 per student. Please have these paid to the office by Tuesday, March 13. I strongly recommend that students have their own badminton goggles for all practices and games.

I am looking forward to spending time with players and parents throughout the season. Let’s go Bruins!
