The cold has hit us and the weather has caused many indoor recesses. The Kinders have been saying they wish there was more snow and that the weather wasn’t so cold so they could play outside. I decided to bring in some “snow” into the classroom! Many stories occurred within the snow and as their stories grew, the space in which they expressed their stories did also. This snow lasted several days and was well used by many of the students. Through this play, interest of animals and their habitats was expressed and will continue to be explored when we return from the break.

C created a path to help the animals walk through the snow. She told me this path would help them walk from four different directions to meet together in the middle.

As the snow play grew, B decided more space was needed. The entire table space was used to create snow hills, sculptures, paths and homes for the animals.
