It was a cold January for Saskatchewan and one that prompted at least one “no school” day because of the frigid temperatures. Nevertheless, as the winter begins to wind down, our school begins to wind up with some great fun and activities for learning.
Our annual Scholastic Book Fair is fast approaching with this year’s theme being “Saddle Up and Read!” We invite all families and community members to come on down to peruse the fair to lasso some special books for your little cowpokes. The fair will begin Monday, January 29, 2018 and run until Friday, February 9, 2018. Our school will host two evening open houses: Thursday, February 1st and Wednesday February 7th beginning at 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. both evenings. All proceeds from the sales of books will be used for purchasing library and educational resources for the students. We hope you can come and rope in some wonderful options for Saddling Up to Read!
Each year we compile information about the school enrollment over the next five years. This information is very vital to our future planning and funding. If there are any families in our community and area that have young children who will attend Pike Lake School within the next five years it is imperative that you contact Pike Lake School @ 306-668-4808 This would include youngsters 0-5 years! We look forward to hearing from you so that our preliminary furute enrollments can be firmed up.
We will be learning and actively demonstrating many of the wonderful traits of what it means to be a friend when we celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14th. We can dress up in red, pink and/or white as we spend the afternoon in fun learning activities with our friends.
In keeping with tradition, the SCC will once again be supporting the annual lunch for our community and school families. The students are always eager to prepare a meal to share with the community and demonstrate the skills they have learned in the school’s daily nutrition program. Please save Friday, March 16, 2018 as the date for sharing a meal with a neighbour, the school students and staff. Watch for more details in the upcoming days.
