SBA Summer Band Camps – Sign up!

It is time to get your children registered for summer band camps! The SBA Band Camp is an amazing experience for all ages of band students. They get to work with professionals on their instruments, play new and fun music in a full concert band, get taught jazz, composition and theory concepts and also play games and make life-long friends. I can personally attest that I have NEVER had a student say they didn’t enjoy this camp or that they aren’t a better musician for going. If your child enjoys band and playing his/her instrument then this camp is a must!

The fastest way to get the information and to register students is to go to the SBA website: http://saskband.org/ All current information, forms and payment options are there for your convenience (Don’t use Google shortcuts! You will likely end up using the 2015 info that way).

I have attached a brochure about the camp in this email in case a paper copy is preferred. Band Camp Brochure 2016

**If you would love to go to camp, but are experiencing financial difficulties please consider them for a scholarship from the SBA (contact your band teacher about this).

Music Monday Success!

Launched in 2005 by The Coalition for Music Education, Music Monday is the world’s largest single event dedicated to raising awareness for music education. Prairie Spirit proudly takes part every year in this celebration and music happened across the Division this past Monday.

Band students in each of our communities played O’Canada for their home schools. Non music and music students were involved in music related/themed lessons and took part in lunchtime concerts across the division. While the Music Education Team set up a Resonate Roadshow at Martensville High School performing mini clinics to over 100 students with interactive sessions based on Percussion, Guitar, Instrument Building, A Jam stage and even and instrument petting Zoo.

In the evening all PSSD East Seniors reunited with the West counterparts to perform in a special night of music at the Resonate Live: Music Monday concert at the beautiful theatre in Martensville High.

Congratulations to all involved and a huge thank you to students, parents and staff. We look forward to making Music Monday even bigger and better next year!
