Intermediate Winds

The Intermediate Winds is a developing ensemble for instrumentalists that have graduated from Beginning Band, returning students, or members of the Senior group that have taken up a second instrument. The Intermediate Winds regularly participates in music festivals such as Optimist Festival in Regina.  The Intermediate students come together to rehearse every 2nd Wednesday at Allan School from 1:15-4:30pm,

BUS TRANSPORTATION:

The school division provides bus transportation for INTERMEDIATE and SENIOR band students only. Busses depart from their home school location on Wednesdays at lunch and take them to Allan Composite School to attend division rehearsals. Students are still under school responsibility and thus MUST abide by the division issued rules for bus transportation.

Routes:  Bus #1 – Aberdeen, Colonsay   Bus #2 – Hanley/Dundurn    Bus #3 – SCP, Clavet

UNIFORMS:

  • Black Golf Shirt (ordered for parents by the BPA)
  • Black Dress Pants or Skirt (knee length or longer)
  • Black Socks/Leggings
  • Black Shoes

ASSESSMENT/EVALUATION:

Intermediate band students are assessed on assignments/projects (generally one for each reporting period),  performance evaluations, musical concept evaluations and documented self-evaluation and goal setting.

All students have four reporting dates during the year: Late October, January, April and June. Marks and any applicable comments will be found on Powerschool.

Yearly Mark weighting:

Projects/Assignments…………………………………………….. 40% (10% each)

Performance evaluation …………………………………………. 20% 

Musical concepts…………………………………………………… 20% 

Musicianship*………………………………………………………… 20% (5% each term)

*Musicianship is the demonstration of various facets that help the students in their goal of becoming a rounded musician and performer. Students are observed on attendance, punctuality, participation, attitude, expression, responsibility and their ability to take musical risks.
