What’s new with Home based Education(HBE) in 2020-21

Welcome to Home based Education for the 2020-2021 school year!

September Updates:

Enrolment: HBE has seen a surge in our enrolment this fall. Last year at this time HBE had approx. 500 students enrolled and this year we are currently at 840 students. The surge is primarily due to Covid 19, with so many new families we want to let you know a bit more about some of HBE staff.

Our HBE team consists of these people:

Janet Jeffries : HBE facilitator

Rob Troupe  : Spirit eLearning and HBE facilitator

Lorraine Fitzgerald : HBE

We are pleased to be working with you and are available to you if you have questions or concerns. Call 306-683-2800 to be connected to one of us.

or email us at : janet.jeffries@spiritsd.ca or lorraine.fitzgerald@spiritsd.ca

We are currently working on the HBE blog and plan to have it updated soon with forms, resources and a new look. Watch for that !

Park Time

PARK TIME starts next week April 28th in Warman…

Where:   Warman Lions Spray Park
When:    TUESDAYS 1:00 pm – 3:30ish pm

A free drop-in style weekly time for home-based educating families to get together in the great outdoors.  Kids of all ages can have fun together – it is a park!  There is playground equipment, spray park, lots of trees & green space.  You may want to bring a ball of some kind, Frisbee, bathing suit & towel, etc, but definitely a water bottle!  Parents, bring a lawn chair or blanket so we can gather in a common area for visiting, meeting new people, sharing ideas, supporting each other, or just relaxing together.

Park Time continues right through the summer, usually until it is too cold in the autumn for the moms to sit outside happily:)

If you have questions, feel free to contact me:

Swimming Lessons

HOMESCHOOL RED CROSS SWIMMING LESSONS

Start May 1 (next Friday!)
End June 19

Once again, we are offering swim lessons to homeschooled children at Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre on Friday mornings.

Please come to the lobby at Harry Bailey on Thursday night, April 23 from 6:30 – 8:30 for our registration night. Payment must be made at that time as well. We take cash and cheques made out to Saskatoon Homeschoolers.

Prices are as follows:

Preschool levels through to Level 4  $65
Levels 5 – 8  $85
Levels 9 and 10  $95

Lessons go on anywhere from 9 am to 10:40. We won’t know your exact swim time until a few days after registration and we will contact you with this via email. A recreational family swim will be held every week from 10:40 – 11:25–a great opportunity for the kids to socialize and practice their skills!

Please note: there will be 7 instruction days and the last day will be a rec. swim from 10 – 11:25! They unfortunately do not have enough lifeguards to teach the whole 8 weeks, but they assure me that everyone can still get their badges within those 7 weeks of instruction.

Thank you all for your patience while I organize this. See you Thursday!
