One School, One Book is a program designed to create a shared reading experience within a single elementary school community. A single chapter book is chosen, every child in K-6 receives a copy, and every family reads that book at home over the course of 6 weeks. Activities at the school coordinate, promote, and enrich the shared reading experience. We will be completing a variety of activities to promote reading and comprehension through assemblies (involving fun activities related to the chapter s read), daily trivia questions, and other fun activities.
I am very excited to be part of this program here in Hepburn as I have seen first-hand how excited children can be reading the same book as everyone else! My own children are involved with this program in Langham Elementary School, and I love when they want to curl up with me and read. I know that this is going to be a positive experience in the school as well as at home!
