The student leadership team of Lake Vista Public
School wanted to gift children who are less fortunate this Christmas season. We
are going to help pack shoeboxes for an initiative called Operation Christmas
Child with the Canadian Relief Organization called Samaritan’s Purse. We
have till Monday December 2nd to fill some shoeboxes and spread some joy this Holiday
Season!
Each class has been
encouraged to help and will receive minimum one shoebox to fill with toys for a
boy or girl. Here are the instructions for each class:
1. Get a shoebox from
school.
2.
Decide whether you will pack a box for a girl or a boy, and the age category:
2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Put a label on the box (printed from school).
3. Fill it with little
gifts (nothing gently used -for hygiene reasons), including school supplies
items, soccer ball with pump, stuffed animals, trucks, dolls, non-liquid
hygiene items like toothbrush, combs, bar of soap, etc…for a full list, see
below. No army related items, no liquids/lotions, or candy.
4. Lastly, $10.00 is
needed for each box for shipping costs.
If your family would
like to go above and beyond to help Lake Vista School out, you are more than
welcome to fill a regular sized shoebox at home. All shoeboxes will be picked
up and taken to Calgary by the afternoon on Monday, December 2nd.
