“In My Own Backyard”

Pike Lake is a special and unique community, both in location and with the amazing community members!  Pike Lake School would like to create a book for our school and community that is unique to us. It is a sort of ‘quarantine book’, a nature book specifically for the region of Pike Lake.  During this time at home, students have been engaged in numerous learning activities, both school initiated and those driven by student experience, curiousity and passion.  We are asking families to send the school a photo or a drawing, showing the learning students have been engaged in. Pictures already sent to their teacher can be used.  One per student is welcomed!
We are inviting community members to contribute to this historic book as well. You are welcome to contribute anything relating to nature that you have found interesting, or a connection with nature that has been meaningful to you and/or Pike Lake at this time. It may focus on flora, fauna, the community, your yard, the lake – anything related to the Pike Lake area. We will only be able to accept one submission per person. A photograph will be required and a sentence or 3 explaining the photo, the learning, what you noticed, why you found it interesting or important, etc. would be very helpful to the future readers of this book. Please send photos as a jpeg to pikelakeschool@spiritsd.ca along with your name.
We look forward to your participation in this endeavour!
