Yamaha Canada Contest

Yamaha Canada are running a contest for any interested students aged 13-19 to record themselves playing O’Canada in the most “Canadian” setting possible. The winning entry will receive $5000 to go towards a Yamaha Instrument and their respective school program will also receive $5000!

East Division Classes in Clavet tomorrow


Just a quick reminder to all students grade 6-12 in the East that the first Division Classes of 2020 are in Clavet tomorrow. Please see the post below for details of bussing to and from Clavet.

Students will meet on the Clavet stage when they arrive and sign in as normal.

  • 1-1:30 – Announcements and Warm up
  • 1:30-3 – Rehearsals
    • Seniors 7-12 (remain on stage)
    • Juniors 6 (move to the library)
  • 3-3:20 – Break
  • 3:20-4:25 – Breakout groups (Everyone meet on stage)
    • RhythmBox
    • Campfire Guitar
    • Grade 6’s
  • 4:25 – Pack up and Depart at 4:30pm

Free Jazz Clinic this Saturday! Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra/Tommy Banks

New York tenor saxophonist Joel Frahm and Toronto pianist Adrean Farrugia will each be giving a free one hour jazz improv clinic at The Bassment Jazz Club in Saskatoon this Saturday afternoon at 4:00.  Anyone is able to attend, all ages and free entry.

The Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra will also be performing a fantastic concert this weekend, on Saturday January 18, 2020 honouring the legacy of Tommy Banks <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Banks>.

Grant McEwan University professor Ray Baril will be giving a free talk outlining the life and legacy of Mr. Banks at the rRemi mMordern on January 17, 2020 at 7:30 PM.The January 18, 2020 concert, also at 7:30 PM, will be at the Broadway Theatre.

No Division Rehearsals today

Hello, due to the temperature prohibiting bussing today Division Hub Classes in Asquith have been cancelled today.

Happy New Year to you all! We look forward to catching up with you all over the coming weeks and hope you had a restful winter break. Division Hub Classes start back up on the following dates:

Monday January 13th – West Students in Asquith

Monday January 20th – East Students in Clavet

There are no division classes tomorrow (January 6th)

East Hub is moving – We want to thank Allan for being such a fantastic home for the East Division Classes over the past few years and look forward to returning in the future with our ensembles. We are also excited to be moving back to Clavet school for bi-weekly classes. Hub classes will still run 1pm-4:30pm every week. A new bus timetable will be posted soon as we expect the travel time to be reduced.
