This week we were feeling dramatic and have listed 5 of our favourite musicals! Click on the names to take you to some clips or whole shows!
Mrs. Ayers
This is a cruel joke… Top 5? Seriously. You get 10. I could have easily gone 20.
- West Side Story
- Wicked
- The Phantom of the Opera
- Hamilton
- Hello, Dolly! – fun fact, I was in my hometowns production of this as a child
- Les Miserables
- The Lion King
- Rent
- The Sound of Music
- Hairspray
Mr. Martin
Here are some you might not have heard of or seen. Take a look.
- Frankenstein – Written and performed by Edmontons Catalyst Theatre. This was an awe inspiring gothic retelling with great music, acting and sets. Shame there isn’t a full soundtrack or recording.
- Kiss me Kate – Oldie with an amazing score, based on the Merchant of Venice
- Martin Guerre – Written by the team behind Les Miserables this musical didn’t last long but had an amazing score and songs.
- Pirates of Penzance – Not technically a musical but the 80’s re-scored production and film is too bonkers not to include.
- Sing Street – Just watched the movie last week! Here is a sneak peak of the musical version that has been postponed before its broadway debut.
