Happy New Year! East Hub is moving. No hub tomorrow!

Happy New Year to you all! We look forward to catching up with you all over the coming weeks and hope you had a restful winter break. Division Hub Classes start back up on the following dates:

Monday January 13th – West Students in Asquith

Monday January 20th – East Students in Clavet

There are no division classes tomorrow (January 6th)

East Hub is moving – We want to thank Allan for being such a fantastic home for the East Division Classes over the past few years and look forward to returning in the future with our ensembles. We are also excited to be moving back to Clavet school for bi-weekly classes. Hub classes will still run 1pm-4:30pm every week. A new bus timetable will be posted soon as we expect the travel time to be reduced.

December 16th Division Celebration and Winter Concert Thanks!

Thank you so much to everyone that took part in the Winter Concert last night at Lakeview Church. Whether you performed on stage or were in the audience we truly appreciate your support and the hard work put into performing and your roles getting students to this point.


Next Monday all students in Grade 7-12 (only) have their last rehearsal of the 2019 and the East and West will celebrate together. West Grade 7’s in Junior Band are also invited to attend.

Each student please bring a sharable (nut free) food item along with your instrument and music. Festive attire is encouraged.

All students will be bussed to and from the rehearsal/event. The Celebration will be from 1pm-4pm (we will end 30 minutes earlier to allow West Students the chance to get home closer to regular division rehearsal drop off times)

It’s Winter Concert Week!

Just a reminder the the PSSD EAST:WEST WINTER CONCERT is This Tuesday December 10th, 7pm at Lakeview Church, Saskatoon.

The last West Division rehearsal takes place tomorrow in Asquith.

Seniors: Wearing all black, arrive ready to rehearse at 5:30pm (arrive before 5:15 to set up)

Juniors/Beginners: Arrive at 6:15pm

Grade 5 East Music Students – Not performing on the 10th. Grade 6 optional.

Hello, just to clear up some confusion regrading the winter concert next week. Only the West Grade 5 and 6 students are performing on the 10th. East Grade 6’s have the option of performing with the West Beginners if they wish (see playlist below)

All Grade 5 and 6 students from East Schools (listed below) are welcome to attend the Winter Concert next week but the grade 5’s will not be performing. The East grade 6’s are welcome to come and sit in with the West Beginners but this is optional.

Schools affected: Allan – Aberdeen – Clavet – Colonsay – Dundurn – Hanley – South Corman Park Prairieview – PerdueBorden

Students in grade 5 and 6 will be taking part in alternative performance opportunities within their own communities/schools. Please contact your music teacher with any questions about when the students will be performing at their individual school.

Winter Band Concert!

December 10th, 2019

Dear Band Parents,

     On Tuesday, December 10th we will be having our Winter Band Concert at Lakeview Church in Saskatoon!  The concert will begin at 7:00 pm.  We ask that senior students (Grade 8-12 East and West) arrive at 5:30 for a brief rehearsal prior to the concert.  Junior (grade 6/7 WEST ONLY) and Beginner( grade 5 WEST ONLY) band students should arrive at 6:15.  The Beginner’s will have a quick rehearsal on stage, and the juniors will have a warm up in their warm up room.  They will be shown where they can leave their jackets and instrument cases upon arrival at the church.    

Students will need to bring:

Beginner Band (Grade 5) WEST SCHOOLS ONLY

  • Instrument
  • Music (Tradition of Excellence book)
  • Concert dress (white shirt and black pants)

Junior Band (Grade 6/7) WEST SCHOOLS ONLY

  • Instrument
  • Music (Majestica, Gently I Wander)
  • Concert dress (black shirt and black pants)

Senior Band

  • Instrument
  • Music (Thrill Ride, Hymn to the Fallen, Christmas at the Circus, Blessed Legacy)

Remembrance Day Service 2019 – Clavet – Division Band, Nov 7th

The Senior Band will be performing at the Clavet Remembrance Day Service on Thursday November 7th. Please see the following information regarding the day. Please ensure you have all black clothing (including shoes) as well as a poppy.

University of Saskatchewan Open House

Please see the below about a great opportunity to visit the U of S Music Department and see what they are all about!

The University of Saskatchewan Music Department are hosting our Annual Open House at the University of Saskatchewan, Department of Music on Friday, October 4.  We invite any students and parents to join us for what is sure to be an informative and entertaining afternoon and evening.  Students will be treated to free masterclasses, concerts, campus tours, recitals, information sessions and dinner to experience firsthand the vibrant music scene at the Department of Music. 

Of special note is our evening performance “Play it Forward”, which features the Greystone Singers, U of S Jazz Orchestra and the U of S Wind Orchestra. The concert is free and we encourage those attending to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Saskatoon Food Bank.

Division Rehearsals Begin!

We are just a few days away from our first Division Hub Rehearsal of the year! The East Band Students have their first Division Hub Rehearsal this coming Monday, September 9th. West students start on the 16th.

All students need to fill out a bus permission form and hand in to your school Admin assistant before boarding the bus this coming Monday.

Who: All students in grades 7-12 studying instrumental music must attend the Division Hub, Grade 10-12 in particular to fulfil curricular hour obligations. In addition this year in the East any students in grade 6 wanting a challenge are welcome to join.

What: An afternoon of larger ensemble rehearsals that provide students with the chance to play in a larger ensemble, make connections with other students and diversify their opportunities for performance and study in music


  • Full Ensembles: Junior Band (6/7) Senior Winds (8-12)
  • Breakout Groups: Song (choral), Rhythmbox (Percussion ensemble), Strung (Guitar), Small Ensembles, Combo (Jazz/Rock/pop)
  • Technique: Private pull out 1 on 1 lessons
  • Sectionals: Brass/Woodwind/Percussion
