École Traditions Elementary School is a dual-track elementary school, offering programming for students from Kindergarten to Grade 5 . For the 2019-2020 school year, we will be offering French Immersion for Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2, increasing by one grade per year subsequently.
Our mandate is for all students to find success in authentic, engaging programming in both French and English streams. We are committed to a language-rich learning environment both inside and outside of the classroom and welcome parents as partners in student learning.
Please contact Mrs. Olson at the school with any questions.
Our April Learning:
This month brought us spring weather and lots of new learning to share.
Grade 1’s have been working on vowel sounds and blends to help us become better readers. We have been working on animal research projects using the EET ( expanding expression tool) to help guide our ideas. We have also been learning French vocabulary to share the signs of spring we have been discovering. We completed a book study on ” Sometimes I feel like a Fox” ( Parfois je suis un renard) and shared our own character traits.
In Kindergarten we created ” Les Dinoformes” upon completing our unit on shapes and have been learning about different food groups by making delicious dishes and through play while ” shopping for groceries”. We have also been growing a variety of different plants in the classroom and exploring seeds with the beginning of spring. For Earth Day we picked up “alphabet litter” around our classroom and made some wonderful art.
We are very excited for what is to come in May for our French Immersion team including a field trip to a farm together and our Kindergarten Orientation at the end of the month for our Kinder friends who will join us next fall.
