Hope your week has been great! Hard to believe how fast spring is flying by.
Here are few treasures I have come across this week. I hope you find them useful.
1. Some of you were asking about children’s songs and after talking to a retired colleague he pointed me towards www.kididdles.com where you can look up a song title and get access to lyrics and in some cases hear the melody so that you could learn it and sing it with your students.
2. This retired teacher also pointed me towards the following website which has all kinds of really fun songs for school children to learn. The website is www.allmusic.com/album/weird-wacky-songs-for-kids-mw0000349254-Weird&WackySongsFor Kids-BobKing:Songs,Reviews,Credits,Awards:Allmusic
You also find this album and other Bob King albums on itunes at itunes.apple.com/us/album/weird-wacky-songs-for-kids/id341229377-itunes-Music-Weird&WackySongsforKidsbyBobKing
3. As you know one of my passions is linking music to what you are doing in your other classes. Here is a website that one of our band teachers passed on to me. The project is called “The Composer Is Dead.” You can read about this project on wikipedia, and you can also check out this website at http:www.slideslave.net/mccchr/music-detectives-webquest.
Update on fall planning:
I am in the midst of ordering various equipment for Hepburn’s music classes for the fall and look forward to meeting soon to discuss some of the details. As the year dwindles down, it is exciting to see concrete things starting to fall into place.
As always, I’d love to hear about what grabs you, what questions you may have, or what ideas are bubbling inside you.
