Grade 11 News

So great to back to school!!! Classes are in full swing. In math foundations, we will be having our first exam on Tuesday, Sept. 18th. In Physics, we are learning wonders and workings around us, as well as understanding such math components as, scientific notation, significant figures and metric conversion. In Biology, we have been focused on the smallest living thing, the cell. In ELA, we are working on inquiry learning.

Hard to believe we are at the end of another school year! All that is left is our final exams, which begin on Friday, June 22. We wish everyone a Warm, Fun and Fantastic Summer! See you all in the new school year!

It is a busy time of year as we continue to work hard and prepare for the end of our grade 11 year. In Chemistry, we just wrote an exam on Chemical Reaction, and participated in Mole Day. In Visual Arts, we are working on our creativity, which is leading into a hat parade. In PAA, we are decorating cakes. In IA, we are building the football shed. In Foundations, we are graphing. In History, we are investigating the battles of WWII and also, working on our independent projects.

To update our classes: In History, we are studying world leaders and communism of WWI. In Math Foundations, we did an exam on statistics and are about to start graphing. In PAA, we are cake decorating. In IA, we are building sheds. In Chemistry, we just wrote an exam on molecules and compounds and will now be starting chemical reactions. In law, we are looking at civil rights.

In Math, we are calculating statistics. In History, we are learning about the First World War. In PAA, we are just finishing researching and eating international foods. In IA, we are making our sawhorses. In Art, we are recreating movie scenes. In Chemistry, we just started a unit on Molecules and Compounds and our first assignment is performing a series of demonstrations/experiments for the K/1 class.

We are busy into the second semester. In math, we just wrote an exam on the properties of angles and triangles. In History, we are researching personal projects. In PAA, we are learning about international foods. In IA, we are looking at the theory of building houses. We also, have just started building saw horses.  In Chemistry, we are examining the functions of the Lab, including scientific method, lab equipment and safety in the lab. In Visual Arts, we are exploring world cultural art. Have a great February break!

It is a very busy time of year, as we finish up in our class and prepare for our first set of final exams. In Math, we are working on our last chapter which is Linear and Quadratic Inequalities. In Physics, we are working on a Heat Unit where we are calculating linear expansion and the quantity of heat. In Biology, we are just finishing our Animala Unit where we are dissecting crayfish and Lubber grasshoppers. In Phys. Ed., we are beginning badminton. In ELA, we are watching videos on how gender is represented by the media.

In our classes, we are busy as ever. In Gym, we are playing floor hockey, as well as working out in the weight room and doing an 80’s workout. In English, we have just finished reading “To Kill a Mockingbird”. In Physics, we have just finished the Light Unit with Miss. Rugg (Ms. Prakash’s Intern). In Biology, we will be writing a test on Viruses, Bacteria, Protists and Fungi before the holidays. In Pre-Calculus, we are wrapping up a unit on Radical Expressions. In Workplace Math, we just completed a test on drawing exploding objects. The grade 11 class would like to say goodbye and thank you to all the Interns that were at Hanley School this past semester. As well as, wish everyone a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and to keep safe and warm during the holidays. Winter is fast approaching and who can believe that Christmas is right around the corner. However, we need to keep studying because we are busier than ever in our classes. In Pre- Calculus, we are learning about quadratic equations and in Work Placement Math, we are learning about trigonometry. We are finishing our Ecological Organization Projects in Biology and will have a test on Wednes- day, Nov. 16th. In Physics, we have just started the Light Unit. In Biology and Physics, we are showing our creative sides, which is resulting in wonderful art work. We are having a blast playing sports in Gym. In English, we are all working together to plan the schools Remembrance Day ceremony.
