Terry Fox Walk – Fri. Sept. 28, 2018

The annual Terry Fox Walk is coming up on Sept. 28th. This year our school has a goal of raising $3350 or $5 a student. The Terry Fox Foundation has a great reputation, with $.82 cents of every dollar raised going directly to cancer research. You can donate online by visiting our school fundraising page http://www.terryfox.ca/WarmanCommunityMiddle or by simply giving your student $5 to bring before Run Day. For more information visit www.terryfox.org

Welcome back to school BBQ Thursday, Sept 13, 5-7pm! We will be located on the school side this year, and serving up burgers and hot dogs as our main SCC fundraiser. The SRC (the kids) will be hosting games and a bouncy castle will be onsite for entertainment for all ages. Bring the family to meet the staff and reconnect with friends in the community. In the past, funds raised from this event have supported classroom libraries, recess sports equipment and music club initiatives. Hope to see you there.

Message from New Principal – Tracy Dolezsar-Glarvin

Dear Parents and Families,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the WCMS school community. My name is Tracy Dolezsar-Glarvin and I feel very fortunate to have been selected as the next principal of Warman Community Middle School. Over the last few months, I have been spending time at WCMS getting to know the building, the school’s community, and the wonderful staff and students. Through many conversations, I’ve learned about the positive parent and community support we have at WCMS. I’ve learned that these connections between home and school contribute to the positive learning environment and the commitment to student success we have in our school.

Over the past 19 years, I have worked as a middle-years and high school teacher, guidance counsellor, learning coach and administrator, but I consider my most important job to be that of a child advocate. Doing what’s best for students is at the heart of what I do each day as principal. Treating every child as though they were my own guides the choices I make to make every child successful

Our WCMS mission is Success for All in a Caring and Respectful Community. I believe that working together is key to building a school culture where all our children will thrive, where all families will feel welcome, and where staff will be able to facilitate success for every student. Caring and respect is at the heart of everything we do each day to make WCMS a great place to learn.

I hope you’re able to join us on Thursday, September 13th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm for the Welcome Back BBQ our SCC has been planning for students and families. It promises to be a fun night with the SRC organizing an Astro Jump Monster Obstacle Course, a BBQ supper, and the opportunity for staff, students and families to mingle. This year, the event will be held on the south-west side of the school. I look forward to seeing you and your family there.

The first day back for students is Tuesday, September 4th and all of the staff are eager and excited to begin what promises to be a great year. WCMS looks forward to working with you as a team to help each student meet their goals and have a successful school year.

Because I believe open communication is important, my door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to call email or stop by the office to discuss any questions, concerns or ideas you might have throughout the school year.

Thank you in advance for welcoming me into this amazing learning community.
