The school offers a comprehensive extra-curricular program, including sports like volleyball, basketball, badminton, golf, and track and field. Students have the opportunity to participate in our SLC (Student Leadership Council) choir, and drama.
These activities provide our students the opportunity to interact with students from various
grades with varying abilities. The students learn to co-operate in group situations, learn
sportsmanship and build team and school spirit.
The main objective of these programs is to maximize student participation in order to
promote student enjoyment, skill development, sportsmanship, confidence and work ethic.
Family and community help and co-operation is valued and appreciated!
Code of Conduct
Participating in extracurricular activities is a privilege and not a right. Students, staff and spectators are ambassadors for our school community, and we expect them to conduct themselves safely and appropriately in their interactions with teammates, opponents, officials, volunteers, etc., both on and off school property.
Participation in all extra-curricular activities is contingent on the following PSSD Code of Conduct: https://blogs.spiritsd.ca/scpschool/pssd-code-of-conduct/
If a student fails to uphold the standards outlined above, that student may be prevented from participation for a period of time as determined by the coach, supervisor, and/or school administration.
Fees:
- Extra-curricular fees
- A budget will be calculated prior to the season to approximate extra-curricular costs and required fees to cover those costs (travel, uniform, ref fees, etc.). The itemized fee schedule will be shared with families at the beginning of the season. All efforts will be made to keep costs accessible to families. Please contact the coach or office if you need support in this area.
- A uniform fee of $5 will be charged for each sport that requires the use of team uniforms.
- All fees will be processed through the office, with remainder of funds reimbursed to families at the end of the season.
Transportation:
- We appreciate parent volunteers who assist in transporting students to extra-curricular events. Please ensure volunteer driver forms and criminal record checks are submitted at the office prior to the game or activity (AP 807 and (805 Appendix A – Protocol for Extra-Curr Travel in Private Vehicles.pdf)
- Prior to the game or activity, coaches will identify the parent drivers and available seatbelts in their vehicles. Coaches will arrange which students are traveling with which parents and leave a list with contact information at the office prior to leaving the school
- In times of extreme or inclement weather, school administration may implement additional procedures and requirements for student transportation to events. AP-805 also states that extra-curricular travel will not occur if the Highway Hot Line and Environment Canada post advisories that travel is not recommended and/or that roads are closed.
