Like many schools, South Corman Park School raises funds to provide additional opportunities for our students that would be outside our typical budget allocations. We appreciate the tremendous support of our SCC and school community! Some of the activities that have been possible with SCC and school community fundraising are:
- Our Playground
- our outdoor learning space
- technology like ipads, projectors and sound-field systems
- field trips
- presentations like OSAC’s Troll Grandfather and Hip Hop Hoop Dance
- additional library resources
- classroom “extras”
In addition, our staff and SCC has identified some guiding principles, when thinking about fundraising, including:
- Community–fundraising events provides an opportunity for our school community to come together
- Equity and Access–fundraising helps students access educational opportunities
- Student Input and Ownership–students are contributing towards activities that are of interest and engaging to them
- Balance–consideration of user pay and shared costs is considered
- Value–effort is made to keep prices reasonable and work towards providing value
- Efficiency–parent, teacher and school time is considered
- Transparency and Communication–sharing with families the amount of money raised and where that money is going towards. Staff and SCC periodically revisit and discuss fundraisers and are open to feedback from our families and community.
