Responsible Technology Use

As our world continues to develop new technologies, our children have opportunities to use an amazing array of tools and resources. However, some of this technology also causes challenges with learning distractions, safety, exposure to violence, online bullying, extended screen time, etc.  South Corman Park aims to utilize technology in a way that minimizes negative exposure and maximizes learning. We have developed a few guidelines for technology usage at school.

The full policy can be found here: https://blogs.spiritsd.ca/scpschool/files/2023/01/Responsible-tech-use-Jan-2023.pdf

But the main points include:

· cell phones, tablets, and personal technology are not permitted at school

· for school technology, students need to follow Responsible Technology Use rules:

Bus drivers may permit personal devices on the bus if:

· wifi/cell data is disabled

· camera is disabled—under no circumstances are pictures/videos permitted

· the phone is labelled and gets turned in at the office in the morning and picked up at the end of the day

· any games or content is G rated

· the bus driver has given permission to the parents

· families recognize that if rules are not followed, the student will no longer be allowed to have their cell phone/personal device on the bus
