Hello Hepburn Families,
We miss your children and can’t wait until we can see them back in our classrooms. We have been working to develop the best possible plan for a safe and effective return to Hepburn School. This important work is done in consultation with our School Division Administration and is guided by the recommendations from the Ministries of Health and Education. We continue to work on the plan, but we are able to share parts of the plan now and assure you that more information is coming soon. We value your feedback and hope that you will share your thoughts with us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
School first day
Hepburn School’s first day of class will be September 8, 2020 due to recent announcement from the Ministries.
Both on-line and school based options will be available to support student learning. The details of the delivery method is being developed. Students who are unable to attend school due to Covid-19 will be supported in their academic program.
Hepburn School will continue to use block scheduling, but we are looking to change to a block system to match what many schools in the province are using. There are several options that have been presented to the Ministry for approval. When one is selected, detailed time tables will be made available. Regardless of the type of schedule, students will have the ability to pursue 10 credits in the year and will have access to all of the classes that would have been available other years.
Since the recommendations from the Ministry have recently changed so too has our plan. At this time Hepburn School is a level 2 school, meaning masks will be required in all instances where distancing is difficult or not possible. This would include, but not be limited to, busses, hallways, and some classrooms. Masks have been included on the school supply list. Students that do not have a mask will be provided with a disposable mask for the day.
To aid our planning, we are collecting information from our community. You should have already received an email from PSSD providing instructions on completing a short survey. I hope you completed this survey. If you did not complete the survey and your child is not returning to the classroom, please notify us of your intentions. The information collected in the survey will guide site-specific plan; we encourage everyone to take the time to fill it out. If you did not complete the survey and your child is not returning to the classroom, please notify us of your intentions by emailing us at email@example.com.
Our school plan is subject to change based on Ministry Guidelines and approval. The entire site-specific Hepburn School plan will comply with Ministry Guidelines and the PSSD re-opening plan. The completed plan will be delivered to our community following its approval from the school division.
Thank you for your patience and support as we navigate school re-opening.
