Student Medical Conditions and Accommodations
Student safety is important for us to maintain at Martensville High School. Students may require an accommodation for a medical condition while they are at school. These are pre-existing medical conditions can range in severity. Some medical conditions have the potential to result in an acute life-threatening incident. Examples of potentially life-threatening conditions include asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes, or seizures.

If your child has been diagnosed with a potentially life-threatening condition, such as asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes, seizures, or another type of condition, we ask that the applicable documentation (PDF below) is completed by a physician at the next medical appointment for the student.

If your child has a medical condition or allergy, we ask that parents verify this in PowerSchool under the “demographics” tab. Note that this tab is not user-friendly on smart devices and you likely need a desktop computer to do so. If you have any issues with verifying or accessing your child’s demographics or medical conditions in PowerSchool, please contact us.
Taking Medication at School
Students with medical conditions are encouraged to self-administer medication, if appropriate. Students are reminded to keep their medication in a consistent and safe location, such as their locker or backpack. Please speak with your child about responsible storage and use of their personal prescription medications.
Dispensing Medication to Students
In any event where a student requires any medication to be given to them by school employee, the school requires you to complete additional documentation before it can be dispensed. This would include prescription medication (such as an epi-pen or insulin) and over-the-counter medication such as (ibuprofen or Benadryl). Parents and guardians are to complete the form below

Annual Review
Student medical information is to be reviewed on an annual basis by families. We will send communication to remind parents of this. We ask that parents and guardians update the school if and when a student’s medical information changes.
