Outside Recesses

We use -27°C as a guide for determining indoor recesses during winter months. Extremely wet or windy weather is also considered when determining whether it is appropriate for students to play outside.

Students are expected to go outside during recess breaks. Students should dress appropriately for outside play in all seasons. Students are to use the sides and back of school yard throughout recess where supervision is provided.  Playing in front of the school or in parking area is not safe.  In the event of inclement weather, an announcement for students to remain in their classrooms will be made.  Division III students are offered the privilege of remaining inside during the winter months (usually Remembrance Day to late March).  Grade 7-9 students remaining indoors are expected to be in the gymnasium or in their classroom as determined by their homeroom teacher. With the privilege of remaining indoors, comes the responsibility to behave in a safe and respectful manner.
