• School Based Dental Sealant Program for Grades 1, 2, 7 and 8

     Dental Sealant Program

    Venture Heights Elementary School

    Grade 1, 2, 7 and 8 Students

The Population and Public Health Oral Health Program is pleased to provide the Dental Sealant Program to students at Venture Heights Elementary School in Martensville.  The dental sealants and fluoride varnish are provided to prevent tooth decay and improve oral health. Services are provided by licensed oral health professionals.

The program is available for all students in grades 1 and 7, and for students in grade 2 and 8 who were enrolled in the program last year.  Children at this age have new permanent molar teeth growing in at the back of their mouths. This is the best time to have dental sealants placed. A sealant is a thin plastic coating that is painted on to the chewing surfaces of molar teeth to prevent tooth decay.  It is a simple procedure and takes only a few minutes for each tooth.

Services are provided at no charge.

Consent forms will be sent home with grade 1 and 7 students.  Only children with signed consent forms are enrolled in the program.   Please return the forms to your child’s teacher.

Previously enrolled grade 2 and 8 students will receive a “Dental Sealant Program for Enrolled Students” letter, but another consent form does not need to be completed.

The Dental Sealant Program begins on Monday January 8th.
