VMS School Community Council (SCC) Gift Card Fundraiser

Our Valley Manor School Community Council (SCC) will be launching a major fundraiser to support Physical Activity Related Field Trips for all students on Friday, November 4th.  For the past 2 years our SCC has graciously donated $250.00 of their funds to each classroom to allow students to participate in out of school Phys. Ed Field Trips.  With this funding students have enjoyed participating in gymnastics, fitness classes, indoor swimming and bowling just to name a few.  Our SCC would like to continue this practice, but needs your assistance!

This fall we have decided to try a Gift Card Program through a company called FundScrip.  This fundraiser has been very successful for a number of schools and activity groups in Saskatchewan.

On Friday, November 4th each VMS family will receive a FundScrip Seller’s Package.  Each package contains:

  • Introductory information on the FundScrip program
  • Five order form booklets
    • Complete instructions on the first page of each order form
    • Additional order forms available on request from the school.

What is FundScrip?

Fundscrip is an innovative program that lets you earn cash rebates for your organization based on things you buy everyday like groceries, gas and other household items. Every month you spend hundreds of dollars for things like food, gas, clothing, pharmacy, restaurants, electronics, home renovations, department stores and so on.  All you have to do is pay for some or all of your purchases using GIFT CARDS bought at face value from FundScrip participating retailers and a percentage of every gift card purchased is contributed to your group’s fundraising efforts.

Most fundraisers ask you to take out your checkbook to buy things you don’t want or need….FundScrip cost you nothing!

You make your usual visit to the grocery store. You fill your cart and go to the check out.  Instead of paying with cash or a debit card, you use a gift card that you purchased through our group.  It costs you nothing extra but you just earned money for our school.

Are you someone who likes to give Gift Cards for Christmas? Here is an opportunity to get your Christmas Shopping done and support our school.

Ask family and friends to support our school! We encourage everyone to invite their family members, friends, co-workers and neighbors to participate in FundScrip as well.  After all, they probably buy groceries, gas, etc. just like you do.   You could give them an order form and they can order at the same time.

The gift cards come preloaded and are available in various denominations. As you use the cards, the value of the purchase is automatically deducted from the value stored on the card.  If you don’t use the entire amount, the balance remains on the card and can be used for future purchases.

Our FundScrip Fundraiser will run from November 4th to November 23rdGift Cards will be in your hands by Friday, December 9th

Music Class Show and Tell Day – Nov 4th & 5th

Gr. 1 and Gr. 3 students – Friday, Nov. 4th

Gr. 2 students – Thursday, Nov. 3rd

When students come to Music Class on the day listed above, they are invited (they don’t have to)

to participate in one of the following activities;

  • bring an instrument that they already have at home to show the class
  • bring an instrument from home to play for the class (they can use the classroom piano if they know how to play a song on the piano)
  • sing a song for the class
  • perform a dance
  • show the class an instrument that they made at home

If there is interest, we will do this again later in the year.

Our Music Classes are 30 min. each so the presentations do not need to be very long.  We may need to carry over to the next class if we run out of time.

I’m very excited to give the students an opportunity to share their musical/dance abilities and interests.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at

Prairie Spirit School Division Public Survey Update

Prairie Spirit School Division would like to thank the many parents in Martensville who participated in our recent survey. We appreciate the strong response to our survey.

The survey was designed to gather information from parents regarding the opening of Lake Vista Public School in your community next fall. The information we received will be invaluable as we continue our planning for this new school. We will be providing regular updates regarding these plans as they are confirmed.
